Thank you for stopping by!

A Tree Grows in the Bayou was created in June 2013 as a way to document my transition from a single English teacher from NY to a married Phd student in Louisiana.  This is a DIY and home design blog that features all things creative, including the struggle to transform a rented apartment (with wall-to-wall wood paneling) into a home.  I post 1-2 times a week. Typical topics include DIY projects and tutorials, thrifting adventures and budget-friendly decorating/recipes.

Read a little bit more about my transition from NY to LA here and here

If these topics resonate with you, too, then I’d love to discuss the possibility of collaborating with you to help showcase your work and introduce my readers to brands and bloggers I believe in.

You can always contact me at for anything blog or Social Media related.

Guest Post: If you think your writing/topic is in keeping with the aesthetic and readership of A Tree Grows in the Bayou, I would love to hear about it and discuss the possibility of working together.  Send me an email with the subject heading “Guest Post” if you are interested.

Featured Blog/Bloggers: I knew that when I started this blog it would be, partly, about fostering a digital community.  At the end of each month, I will dedicate a post to the blog or blogger that I think deserves some additional attention.

Link Parties: What are link parties you ask?  Well, they are great opportunities for you to build your blog community and gain traffic.  Link parties offer a way for you to share your work on other websites, while also gaining new insights and inspiration as you go.   Typically, when you visit a site on the day of their weekly link party, you’ll see a button inviting you to “link up.”  Share your post url, a title, and great picture. For more detailed info on how to link up, Funky Junk Interiors has a great post here.
